It’s been WAY overdue for a post. We’ve been quiet for several months and it’s time to start getting back out. Earlier this month we played for our third time at the Buy Michigan Now Fest and it was our largest crowd to date. Actually, it was their largest crowd to date as well. BMNF had the most people in attendance in their 5 years of being in Downtown Northville so congratulations to them! We’re happy we can be a part of it. The feedback we got from the festival was also great so for sure we’ll be back next year. Apparently the crowd loved the funkyness and soul we brought and from other artists. The music will most likely shape up that way next year.
We’ve been asked to perform in a couple weeks at Michigan FASH Fest. FASH Fest was started by Leslie Ann Pilling and the first one happened last year(?). FASH is an acronym and stands for, “fashion, art, sound & history,” respectively. As the city of Detroit goes through its transition, lots of amazing startups, designers and active artists have emerged to help bring positive and exciting energy into the city (even with all the negative media surrounding it). The fest will feature many local artists and fashion designers and even a fashion show. A number of local music artists will also join in (hence the sound) and we have been selected as one of the artists.
Our set will have a special theme to it. Leslie wanted us to be the theme for the “pay it forward” show. Joining us on our set will be the young saxophonist from Wayne State University, Jonathon Tockstein, who we passed along the weekend jazz set at Goldfish Tea to. It’s going to be an exciting set as we’ve never had another guest up on stage playing our originals before.
Following up on that show, we’ll be down at Jazz@37North. Keep an eye out for that coming soon. See you at the show!
